dBASE™ Training

I have written two books on developing applications using dBASE Plus.

My training experience includes 2 years at the Alaska Computer Institute in Anchorage, AK; 5 years at the Computer Learning in San Francisco; and being a speaker at numerous conferences; and I currently am an adjunct instructor at Heald College in Concord, CA.

My knowledge of dBASE™ is better than average, due to the two years I worked at Borland, International and the five years I worked for dBASE, Inc. as a QA Engineer, testing dBASE for bugs, and pushing the limits of the software as it was developed.

I can develop courseware specific to your needs, or I can base courseware off my book(s).

It should be noted that there are no classes currently waiting to start -- I am willing to schedule classes if there is interest ...

Course Options:

  • 5 Day Course -- Learn dBASE's Object Oriented Programming, Database Design through Building an Application
  • 2 Day Course -- dBASE's Report Designer and Creating Reports
  • Custom Course ...

Location Options:

  • Onsite -- your company
  • Offsite -- a hotel or other meeting location in or near your area
  • Offsite -- a hotel or other meeting location in or near my area

Onsite Training:
Specific equipment is required to properly conduct a hands-on training session, as shown:

  • Computers (minimum requirements) -- one per student.
    • Capable of running Windows XP
  • A Projection screen - 5' wide, wall mounted or free-standing.
  • A Projector that can be attached to a computer.
  • A White board or chalkboard - 4' wide minimum.
Offsite Training:
Offsite training will be conducted at a suitable hotel or other meeting location in or near your area.

Rates for offsite training are the standard per-day rates for training, with a minimum of 6 students for each offsite event. Note that I can combine several companies to reduce the student requirement from each company in a given area, although I will provide offsite training for a company that meets or pays the six student minimum rate. I reserve the right to invite other interested students in your area to any offsite event.

Instructor Expenses:
Companies that request onsite training will be required to pay normal food, lodging and transportation expenses for the duration of the visit. Instructors will arrive at least one day prior to the training and may leave the last day of training or later.

Training normally runs from 8:30am to 4:30pm, although the schedule is flexible. Rates are for a standard 8 hour training day, including breaks and meals.
