Golden Stag ProductionsI use a combination of Dreamweaver™, hand-coding, Cascading Style Sheets, JavaScript, DHTML and more. If your web server is a Windows™-based server (NT, XP, etc.), I can even create fully data-driven websites using a combination of techniques, including store-fronts, and more, using dBASE™ to drive the data processing on the server (see Application Development). At this time I am learning more about some of the newer techologies on the web, including AJAX and others, which will enable even more interesting websites.
Sample websites:
- Goldenstag.net -- this is my personal website. The menu is a combination of DHTML/CSS/JavaScript. Note that I make no claims to having developed the menu, but I did incorporate it into my site.
- Ken's dBASE Page -- this is part of my personal website, is aimed at the dBASE developer community.
- dBL Open Source Projects -- This site was created in DreamWeaver, the buttons are ones that ship with DreamWeaver (Flash animations).
- West Kingdom History Website -- For a non-profit educational organization I belong to, this site started out as the simplest in design and layout, although recently through the use of CSS it has gotten some enhancements in appearance recently. This site has vast quantities of photographs, because it really does contain a huge amount of history of the organization.
- West Kingdom Heralds' Website -- this site is also for the same non-profit educational organization, specifically for one set of officers. This is a bit more fancy, although it may not appear to be at first. It was created using Dreamweaver™ and uses a style sheet, and some library objects (collections of HTML tags) to make updating the site easier.
- The West Kingdom Awards List -- A huge awards listing database is kept for this same organization, and a website is generated approximately once a month completely from the database. All the specifications are in the database, which is a Windows-based desktop application. All of the pages are generated as static web pages (meaning this is not a web application per se). If the web server were a Windows based server, and the host would allow installing a data engine and software runtime, a search engine could have been added to this site, but there you go.
- The Golden Stag Players -- An amateur theatrical troupe that I run and have done for many years now, this site is how we chronicle what we've done to date, and let folk know what we're doing next.
