Herald: Now let <name> approach the Thrones.

(The new Viscount approaches the Thrones and kneels.)

Herald: May it please Your Highnesses, Your loyal subject, <name>, having by his valor, skill, and strength at arms won the Coronet of the Principality of the Mists, and having served this realm as Prince, and thus by his own ability having earned the title and estate of a Viscount, here presents himself that he may receive this same title of Your Highnesses.

FEALTY - if the new Viscount is not already a Peer of the Realm, he should be offered a chance to swear fealty at this time.

Prince: Do you wish to swear fealty at this time?

(If the new Viscount wishes to swear fealty at this time, do the following fealty oath:)

Herald: To your Liege and before your peers repeat after me:
Here do I swear, by mouth and hands,
fealty and service
to the Coronet and Principality of the Mists,
to speak and to be silent
to do and to let be,
to come and to go
to strike and to spare
in all matters as concern the Principality
upon my honor
and the lawful command of the Coronet
in need or in plenty,
in peace or in war
in living or in dying,
until the Prince depart from His Throne
death take me, or the world end,
so say I <name>.

Prince: This do We hear,
nor fail to remember,
and We for Our part do swear fealty to you,
<name>, and to all your household,
to protect and defend you with all Our power,
until We depart from Our Throne,
death take us, or the world end.
So say We, <name>, Prince of the Mists.

Princess: So also say We, <name>, Princess of the Mists.

Prince: Let the proclamation be read.

(If the scroll is present, the Herald should now read it. If it is not present, then the Herald reads the following proclamation.)

NO SCROLL

Herald: We, <Prince-name> and <Princess-name>, Prince and Princess of the Mists, in recognition that Our subject, <name>, has served as Prince of this realm, do hereby style him Viscount. We do affirm his sole, unique and exclusive right to bear Arms by Letters Patent in the Kingdom of the West. To wit: Blazon. By Our hands this day day of month, Anno Societatis AS-Year.

CONTINUE

(The Prince extends his right hand and takes the right hand of the new Viscount.)

Prince: Be henceforth Viscount <name> in this, Our Realm.

(The Prince raises up the new Viscount and presents him to the populace.)

Herald: For Viscount <name>, Hip, hip!

(If his lady is to be made a Viscountess, the new Viscount moves to the right side of the Prince. If not, the new Viscount bows and leaves court.)

Principality of the Mists

PREPARATION: If the Lord who was Prince has just been created a Viscount, he will be to the Prince's right. If not, the former Prince should accompany the new Viscountess to the Thrones and take his place at the Prince's right.

Scroll/Promissory: Scroll (if prepared)

Token: Coronet (if prepared), Pearl (for the Dames de la Mer -- if this is Princess' first reign in the Mists)


Herald: Let <name> approach the Thrones.

(The new Viscountess approaches the Thrones, bows, and kneels before the Prince.)

Herald: May it please Your Highnesses, Your loyal subject, <name>, having by her beauty, grace, and virtues inspired her champion to win for her the Coronet of the Principality of the Mists, and having served this realm as a Princess, and thus having earned the title and estate of a Viscountess, here presents herself that she may receive this same title from Your Highnesses.

FEALTY - if the new Viscountess is not already a Peer of the Realm, she should be offered a chance to swear fealty at this time.

(The Prince takes the right hand of the new Viscountess in his right hand and kisses it. He then raises her up and presents her to the Princess.)

DAMES DE LA MERE (If this is the Viscountess' first reign in the Mists, she is to be automatically admitted to the Dames de la Mere)

Princess: My Lady Viscountess,
accept this pearl as a token of your membership
in the Order of the Dames de la Mere,
and be henceforth,
as you have been hitherto,
a model of honor and grace
to the ladies of this Principality.

(The new Viscountess bows and thanks to the Princess. She then turns and is joined by the Viscount (if present). The both bow to the Thrones and depart.)

Herald: For Viscountess <name>, newest member of the Order of the Dames de la Mere, Hip, hip!
