What This Is:
Juan suggested after our last rehearsal that people consider keeping a log or diary of the trip, so they could write down impressions of what happened, what they thought about things, etc. I had already thought about doing something like that, and so ... Juan also got something like 9 rolls of film in photos, so hopefully we'll have some photos here soon, as well.
As the webmaster for the Golden Stag Players, I have decided to put this together on a "day by day" basis, hence the links below will be to individual days of our adventures in Austin.
For those unsure of what this is about -- Commedia dell'Austin was a festival held in September, 2001 in which various performance companies and some instructors were all invited to come to Austin to perform, hold or attend workshops, and so on. It was intended to be a "meeting of minds" -- people interested in the theatrical form: Commedia dell'Arte.
As such, it was a success, although not heavily attended by those not directly involved in the festival in some fashion.
The Golden Stag Players had some assistance attending via donations, either directly (we had some folk just write us checks), or by purchasing tshirts, and so on. We got to meet some interesting people, see some interesting performances, and attend some really fascinating workshops. All-in-all, it was a worthwhile trip, although I don't think most of us are going to be running out to do this again for some time ... it cost a lot -- both financially, as well as emotionally and physically. It was worth it, but I think we're all still very tired as I write this (2 days after we returned from Austin).
Okay -- here's the 'menu':
