Hirsch's Log
Francesca von Hesse got up gawdawful early in the morning and drove us (Hirsch and Aldith) to the airport. Thank goodness for friends willing to do such things ... shuttle services are really expensive, and leaving the car at the airport would’ve been worse.
Aldith decided to document the festival in her own way – by making drawings. I am not sure if she plans on doing any text, but she’s having fun with that, by doing drawings at the airport, and so on. What’s really disgusting to those of us without the talent she has, is that she’s doing it in pen – no pencil drawings first, it’s ink directly onto the page. Some people have too much talent. (grin)
When we got to the Austin airport, it was only another 10 minutes or so before the “party flight” (about 12 of the troupe members) arrived, which was good timing. We had some minor foo with rentals, but they got resolved quickly. Then of course getting out to the condos was interesting (finding them). However, all worked out fine.
After settling in, and after Bonefinder and Meg came in (and got picked up by Michael and Iana), we came back into Austin (we’re 30+ miles outside of town), and met at the place Michael and Iana are staying. Then we walked a short distance to Threadgill’s, which is a well-known restaurant in town - this was around 9:30 local time (of course, to us it felt more like 7:30), and asking for seating for 18 people got a fun reaction. Dinner was decent, then we split out and most of us went to the condos and settled in.

Juan's Log
Flight today. What a pain in the ass, but then that's what I expect from airports. I’ve never liked airports all that much. Having lots of people around I don’t know always makes me uncomfortable. Fortunately having lots of people I do know on this flight makes for a decent compensation.
Arrived and managed to get things arranged. Condo's are nice.
Went to Threadgills for dinner. Ordered Fried Okra to send to Seamus’ table. That was just the kind of thing I needed. Made me happy anyway.
